Living in the T.L. Heights has been quite an interesting experience.
So has living in San Francisco !
San Francisco is a very different place than New York City. There isn't a high energy level. That's the first thing I noticed. No sense of immediacy. I'm a New Yorker, high energy is what we do.
The other thing I noticed is that there are an incredible amount of crazies. Some are just the result of over medication, others, the result of loneliness. The medication factor is the unbelievable amount of drugs available in the streets...alot of it available on every corner in my neighborhood.....you don't have to go very far to find a drug connection. Prostitution is also available in the downtown area as readily available as drugs. Both don't seem to bother the SFPD , the Mayor's office, or anyone not living in my neighborhood.
Loneliness.... S.F. seems to be a Frat Town..........people who aren't part of that scene aren't part of anything. Hense, people constantly talking to themselves......either to hear their own voice or to get the attention of a passing stranger, who will hopefully have a conversation with them.
It's very sad.
I like and dislike San Francisco at the same time.
It is a beautiful place. The weather is mostly good. The neighborhood in which I live, is close to anything you could possible want to walk to. I think that within 3 blocks I can find anything I could possible need. (except a good bagel , a decent slice of pizza, and a cheese danish)
(remember, I am a New Yorker, these are things we look for!)
Aside from that, the people are a little (?) strange.
Lots of stories to tell.
I've met alot of people. All types, all walks of life. I like the people in my neighborhood the best.
working class, or not working, or retired/semi-working, or on state funded programs.
An interesting lot.
I work in" Upper... My Shit Don't Stink and I Don't Care About Anybody But Myself"....that's a different neighborhood...So you see, I have alot of stories to tell.
TO be continued............
